Einen riesigen Salzsee haben wir beim Fliegen entdeckt. Wie wäre es, dort zu schleppen?
Mit der Fragestellung machten wir uns auf den Weg. Der Salzsee war wirklich riesig, allerdings eingezäunt. Strauße, Springböcke, Oryxe und Riesentrappe. Riesentrappe hatte noch keiner von uns vorher gesehen. Wir tauften diesen Vogel erst einmal Dickhalsvogel.
Dann tauchte eine Lodge am Salzsee auf. Sehr verlassen, nur zwei Leute da, keine Gäste. Es schien, als wären wir eine willkommene Abwechslung. Und es gab einen Pool. Ralph und Burki streiften sofort ihre Kleidung ab und schon waren sie im Wasser. Der Aushilfsmanager servierte Bier dazu. Der Salzsee und viele Tiere im Hintergrund. Ein wunderbarer Platz. Wir haben es sehr genossen.
Ach ja, fast hätte ich es vergessen. Schleppen kann man dort übrigens nicht.

Today we discovered a huge salt lake while flying and decided to head over to check it out.
We loaded up and set out on the road. The salt lake was enormous, but completely fenced in. At the lake we saw ostriches, springbok, oryx and Kori Bustard – the largest flying bird in Africa. None of us had seen a Kori Bustard before and decided to just call them ‘Dickhalsvogel’ (fat neck birds).
Then we discovered a lodge by the salt lake. It was nearly deserted. There were only two people there and no guests, so it seemed like having us come by for a visit was a welcome distraction. We were likewise happy to have found the place when we learned that they had a pool. Ralph und Burki immediately got into their ‘swimsuits’ and jumped in. We sat and relaxed by the pool, enjoying drinks and the view of the late surrounded by so much wildlife. A really serene spot and we were happy to have found it.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot: it wasn’t possible to do any tow launches there.
